Having trouble viewing content?
Why does Quicktiime take so long to download?
Wanna know why we don't use Windows Media Player?
HERE ARE THE ANSWERS TO YOUR QUESTIONS...
BASIC TROUBLESHOOTING
This site presents videos in QuickTime format. If you do not have QuickTime, you may download it here. QuickTime (version 7) is a free download and is a free download and is available for Windows and Macintosh. Check the system requirements for compatibility with your computer.
]After downloading and installing QuickTime 7 (Windows users should download QT 7 Preview 3), make sure it is installed properly by conducting this test. If you already have QT7 installed on your computer and are able to view the stream in the test, you are all set.
Connection Speed Information
A broadband connection (DSL, Cable, T1, or Satellite) is HIGHLY RECOMMENDED to fully enjoy this site. Some videos may take a some time to buffer (a short wait before video begins to stream) on certain systems.
WEB TV/MSN Users
We are sorry, but this site is currently not compatible with WebTV users.
A SPECIAL NOTE TO WINDOWS USERS: If you have Quicktime installed and still are having problems seeing videos or they won't play, before proceeding to advanced troubleshooting below, go into Preferences area of Explorer and lower your security ratings. On Windows, higher security ratings in Explorer sometimes interfere with receiving video streams.

QUESTIONS & ANSWERS
WHAT KIND OF CONNECTION SPEED DO I NEED?
NubianStrippers.com is developed with high speed internet access users in mind (cable, DSL, and higher). However, we recognize that many users have 56K modems (regular phone lines) and those users will be able to view content but they will have long download times. We would like to advise 56K modem users that delays for downloading videos for view will be SIGNIFICANTLY LONGER than any videos available in the Public Exhibition section. This is basically a function of the fact that we play FULL LENGTH-PERFORMANCE songs in the member section. If you are not a member, please consider your connection speed and patience (!) before joining. In the meantime, we are in the process of lowering files sizes and download times for all of our members.
WHAT DO I NEED TO VIEW SITE CONTENT
We use the following protocols for content presentations If you don't have them, you can download them here:
Quicktime (Quicktime 7 is recommended)
(Note: We may be limiting the use of RealPlayer files but will expand selection soon)
Flash
HOW DO I MAKE SURE QUICKTIME IS WORKING PROPERLY?
To check your Quicktime settings for optimal performance based on your connection speed and computer platform, here is some useful information:You can use the QuickTime Sample Movie (in the QuickTime folder) to make sure the QuickTime Plug-in is installed and working.
How to set up QuickTime
Mac OS X (QT7 sohuld automatically configure this for you, but if video loads slowly oris jerky, try these steps):
1. Choose System Preferences from the Apple menu.
2. Choose QuickTime from the menu or viewer pane. The QuickTime preferences pane appears
3. Click on the Connection tab.
4. Choose your Internet connection from the Connection Speed pop-up menu.
Mac OS 7.5 through Mac OS 9
1. Open the QuickTime Settings control panel.
2. Choose Streaming Transport from the pop-up menu.
3. Click Auto Configure.
Troubleshooting Tips for Windows users:
* Make sure your computer meets the system requirements outlined at http://www.apple.com/quicktime/download/win.html
* Try running ScanDisk to verify that the directory is OK. This is an important step to take before installing any software.
* Try running the stand-alone version of the QuickTime installer in "Safe Mode." It is available at http://www.apple.com/quicktime/download/preview/ . This can help to isolate issues with background applications, and some driver conflicts.
* Make certain you have installed the most recent drivers for your sound and video cards. Even if you have a "brand new" computer, it is not guaranteed to have the most recent software installed. Contact the manufacturer of your sound and video cards for additional information.
* Make certain you have installed a recent version of DirectX. This can be downloaded from http://www.microsoft.com/directx/.
Errors are usually related to software conflicts, unusable files, or incompatibilities. They can also be related to specific hardware combinations, and sometimes the way in which the hardware is configured. Keep in mind that an error message in Windows operating systems does not necessarily point to a particular cause or solution. Since there can be many different causes for a particular symptom, some suggestions may not work, and you may need to discover a solution on your own.
If you need to test the QuickTime plug-in:
1. Open a new browser window.
2. Locate the QuickTime Sample Movie in the QuickTime folder, and position the window so you can see both the file and the browser window.
3. Drag the QuickTime Sample Movie icon onto the browser window.
A new window should appear and the movie should play. If you see an alert box, or if the window has no graphics, or plays no sound, try these steps:
1. Recopy the plug-in into the browser's plug-ins folder
2. Reinstall the browser.
Netscape Navigator and Communicator
To test the QuickTime plug-in:
1. Open a new browser window.
2. Locate the QuickTime Sample Movie in the QuickTime folder, and position the window so you can see both the file and the browser window.
3. Drag the QuickTime Sample Movie icon onto the browser window.
The movie should play. If you see an alert box, or if the window has a picture of a broken plug-in icon, or plays no sound, try these steps:
1. Quit the browser.
2. Copy the QuickTime plug-in from the QuickTime folder into the Netscape Plug-ins folder.
3. Reopen the browser.
4. Drag the Sample Movie onto the window.
5. If you have Mac OS 9 or earlier, troubleshoot system extensions conflicts.
I GO TO THE QUICKTIME VIDEO PAGES ON THE SITE BUT NOTHING HAPPENS. WHAT'S WRONG?
Probably nothing. Click the box that say "Click Here to Play Video"!
IF YOU ARE A WINDOWS USER WITH WINDOWS MEDIA PLAYER INSTALLED, you may need to install or re-install Quicktime on your computer. Windows Media Player is set to be the default player on your system. If you see the Windows Media Player plug-in box (a triangle, square and circle) instead of the Quicktime box, then download the Windows version of Quicktime. This will not interfere with Windows Media Player.
I HAVE QUICKTIME INSTALLED ON MY COMPUTER. I CLICKED ON THE VIDEO BOX BUT NOTHING HAPPENS. WHAT'S WRONG?
Again, probably nothing. One of the quirks of Quicktime is that you have to allow the video to download before you can play it. Then you can play them over and over again. Most videos start playing automatically when enough of it has downloaded to your browser.
HOW DO I KNOW WHEN ENOUGH VIDEO HAS DOWNLOADED?!
Under the Quicktime video box you will see the control bar. As the the video downloads, the bar will "fill up" with gray or blue! That means the video is downloading. Once enough content has downloaded the video should start playing.
WHEN I PLAY THE VIDEO, IT STOPS OR DOESN'T PLAY ALL THE WAY THROUGH. WHAT'S WRONG?
Likely you're "cheating" by trying to play the video before it's completely downloaded! When you do this, it interrupts the downloading, especially if you are on a 56K modem. If you want to play the video before it's completely downloaded, wait until it's 1/2 or 2/3 downloaded.
WHEN I PLAY THE VIDEO, IT'S JERKY OR STARTS & STOPS. WHAT'S WRONG?
THIS problem affects only a small number of users and it's very minor. Likely you are chatting via an instant messeging service or performing some other task while the video is attempting to play in the background. If you are one of small number of users who experience this problem, simply make sure that the browser window with the video is in the foreground and that you aren't chatting or performing anther task while watching the video. (This also affects some users with RealPlayer and Windows Media Player, as well).
WHY DO THE QUICKTIME VIDEOS AND GALLERIES TAKE SO LONG TO DOWNLOAD?
NUBIANSTRIPPERS is optimized for high speed internet access users (DSL/T1/Cable Modem), but even users with 56K modems can view the videos and Flash galleries. 56K users should be advised that the video content does take a lot of time to download, but the quality of the video is superior to anything else out there, including Windows Media Player.
The files are larger than you'll find on other sites, but we chose them both because of their superior quality and they afford us the opportunity to protect our images and video content form people who would misuse them.
MY BROWSER CRASHES WHEN DOWNLOADING OR PLAYING VIDEOS!!! WHAT"S WRONG?
You probably need to do a couple of things:
Increase the memory assigned to your browser. Consult the Help directories on your computer. (Mac OS X users don't have to do so).
Empty your browser cache (usually loctaed in the "Preferences" section of your browser.)
Set your browser cache higher than whatever its current settings are set to; for example, is your browser cache file is set to 50MB, increase it to 150MB or higher.
WHY DON'T YOU USE WINDOWS MEDIA PLAYER?
Simple: Windows Media Player has a VERY NASTY HABIT of not synching sound properly. This is very bad when it comes to synching music with dancers' movements and is unacceptable for what we are doing here on this site. Otherwise, if we used Windows Media Player, the dancers would be dancing out of step, off beat, and look like they had too much medication. When Microsoft fixes this problem, we'll add WMP to our viewing options. In the meantime, download and install Quicktime, for the best performance...and no synching problems.
